Not yet a Cocoon

This work is a site-responsive inflatable sculpture that inhabits the liminal space between enclosure and exposure. Two soft bodies, a caterpillar (Part I) and its shelter (Part II), swell and slump with shifting airflow. The sculpture hovers at the threshold of metamorphosis: wrapped but not sealed, sheltered but not secure. Reconfiguring itself in response to viewers’ presence, it asks what protection costs and whether being held can also mean being held in place.
