We evoke the ghosts of place, wandering through our sounds and movements.

Statement 作品简介
In this project, the artist composed a dual-channel audiovisual installation. As a medium, starting from the shape of the body and bodily actions, to investigate a group of buildings in the old alley on South Shaanxi Road by the approach borrowed from “Modernology”, exploring the memorial space evoked under the dimensions of perception and affection, in which the site-specific soundscape and the voices and the images from people’s conversations formulate the moment of performance and the contours of all the things the senses come into contact with. As people’s common movements dissolve into the body of the buildings, fragments of human perceptions linger, summoning a sense of intimacy with place. The memories float in the building and breathe with us.
本次展览艺术家以二频有声影像装置为媒介,顺沿身体的形状与肢体行动出发,对陕西南路老弄堂的一群建筑进行“考现学”的探索,在知觉和情感的维度下探究人对周遭世界所唤起的记忆空间,其中记录下的地方音景和人们的交谈声与影像共筑着展开行为的当下,以及感官接触的万物的轮廓。随着人们日常的行踪没入建筑的身体,肉身知觉的碎片不断地汇聚着,召唤着人对地方的亲密感。建筑中漂浮的记忆与我们共同呼吸。
During my on-site interviews with the residents and tourists, the conversations I collected no longer serve as materials for text-based analysis but as indexes of a dialect, tracing the emotional and cultural imprints that remain in the entire community. A dialogue with the performance record is generated. Within this process, can specific “places” be shaped in people’s conversations? The project explores the boundaries between bodily movement and concrete architecture, records and accesses the language that connects the past and the present, and opens up a perceptual archive of listening to the past and the present with embodied cognition.
在我实地采访居民和旅客的途中,收集到的谈话不再作为可供文本分析的材料,而是作为一个个地方语言的索引,追溯着留存在整个地方楼群的情感与文化印记,与身体测量建筑的行为影像由此产生对话。在此过程中,具体的“地方”能否在人们的谈论中被塑造?该项目尝试探索身体移动与实体建筑之间的边界,记录和访问过去与现在连接的语言,并尝试用具身认知打开聆听过去与现在的的知觉档案。

Capturing the present moment uses observation to examine the period in which people live in their own way. I start with the everyday lives of the residents of the old alley on South Shaanxi Road.

或许就是一个最小时间单位下空间碎片的集合,
我们分化和连接着当下每个接触的部分。
一栋栋的建筑指引着人,
感受着人。
迷失在深深的遗忘中,
在追溯回忆的许多时刻,
我在此,也不在此。
